The Narcissistic Church

This is an interesting post from Ed Bahler's blog. What do you think?

YouTube. MySpace. And, of course, iPod, iTunes, iMac, and iPhone.
If there is a theme to our day, it’s that “it’s all about me.” The technical term is narcissism. In Greek mythology, Narcissus is the character who, upon passing his reflection in the water, becomes so enamored with himself that he devotes the rest of his life to his own reflection. From this we get our term “narcissism,” the preoccupation with self.
We follow a Savior who said, “I did not come to be served, but to serve;” “Whoever wants to be great among us, must become the slave of all;” and then bowed in submission to the Father Himself and said, “Not my will, but yours.”
Yet a spiritual narcissism has invaded our thinking where the individual needs and desires of the Believer become the center of attention.
Have you ever heard the way we talk?
“I want to go where I’m fed” or “I need to be ministered to” rolls off our tongues without even blushing. We walk out of a worship service and say, “I didn’t get anything out of it” as if worship was about what we received rather than what we gave to God.
And it’s killing the church, blinding our vision, paralyzing our mission, and muting our voice.
But is it simply a reflection of a narcissistic culture? Or could it be something we secretly feed ourselves?
Then it’s not about whether you are fed, but whether or not you have learned to feed yourself and, best of all, feed others.
Then it’s not about whether you are ministered to, but whether you are, yourself, a minister to others.
Then it’s not about whether you got anything out of the service, but whether you gave God anything of service.
And that is a church that has died to itself enough to….live.

Can not Forget!!!!

Lately this has been in my heart......

If you say, "Surley we did not know this", Does not He who weighs the heart consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it?And will He not render to each man according to his deeds? Proverbs 24:12

How can we have seen and heard and forget......There are people in need and we need to help! I dont know about you, but there is not a day that gose by that I do not remember the things that i have seen and heard. My heart breacks for the poor, the needy, the orphans...we need to do something and there is no way that I can forget.

I read this on Shaun Groves blog and thought it was interesting......what do you think?

'How strange is it that multi-million dollar buildings are constructed for the worship of a God who came to earth as a poor homeless man? And that millions are spent to celebrate His birth?'

'Im not willing to say it’s wrong (today). But it’s at the very least ironic don’t you think"

Steve also told me that Best Buy makes 43 Million dollars in profit just with unused gift cards...43 million!!!!! What a waste!

Lets make a diffrence!!!!

Gratitude tag

Stacie started her own Gratitude Tag. The rules are to name 10 (or 5) things you are grateful for and then tag 5 people:

The List......

#1 I am so Thankful for the gift of ADOPTION....That God adopted me into his family to become a daughter of his and to have eternal life...also for the opportunity to adopt two of my three children and for them to be eternally my son and daughter and for my Biological son and his HEART for adoption and the way he has such compassion for others

#2 My BEST Friend.....
I LOVE YOU!!!!!! I am Thankful for the way you lead our family, for the humility that you have and yet the strength that it takes to be "a" I mean "the" MAN!

#3 I have the BEST kids in the Whole World!!!! I can not even began to explain my LOVE for them and how Thankful i am to be there MOM! They are truly AMAZING. I am so thankful how God chose to put my family together. i like to look at us and thank that we are a snap shot of heaven. The five of us from all parts of the world brought together to be a family that Loves, Cares, and Respects one another and Worships the One that orchestrated it all.

#4 I am truly Blessed and so Thankful to have GREAT Friends....Friends that are like family. Friends that live close by and friends that I met through this wonderful thing called Blogging

5# I am so very Thankful for the opportunity to help out in a small way the Orphans in the world through Gobena coffee, and that would not be possible unless YOU the customers of Gobena (in which i am so Thankful for) did not have a heart for Orphans as well....Thank you!!!!

I Tag...

Eva went to get her hair done for the first time today. She was starting to get dread locks and I was worried that we would have to cut all her curls off.....well they were able to get the dreads out and give her a little style as well. She did not like the combing out at all

My little girl looks like Snoop Dog, but oh so cute
