Hiking in Colorado

When we were in Colorado a week ago, we took a hike up into the mountains to a waterfall. There was still some snow on the ground and the water was freezing. The kids were awesome. They absolutely loved the trip. We've got to do this again.

Here are three very short videos of the hike...

Spinning

Mountain biking in Colorado was awesome! I can see how you could get addicted to it. I've been biking at home for a long time, but decided to step it up a notch and joing a "spinning" class at Gold's Gym. My instructor's name is Buffy...and she definitely lives up to the name! The first class was fun but very tough. Not quite as scenic as Colorado mountain biking. Instead of seeing snow capped mountains, trees, and streams, I get to see the spandex pants of the person in front of me. They start at 6am, so it's going to take some getting used to.

Running update #1

Steve's Running Update #1...

I've set a personal goal of running 6.22 miles (10k) in 37:20.

Last week I ran it in 40:10, and I was sore all week. This week, I'm shooting for 39:43. This could be painful, but "no pain, no gain" right?
Anyone else into running this summer? What are your goals?

Rice for dinner

I thought this was an AWSOME idea.... we are totaly on board....Check it out...

This is a post from a blogger Brian which we saw on Heather's blog...

"I don’t know how much you have read about the global food crisis that is currently happening, but the need is massive and the poor are suffering. A combination of natural disasters, rising oil prices, and a reduction in staple food items like rice are ravaging families who were already struggling to buy food for their family. Because of these factors inflation has kicked in and caused food prices to soar over the past few months. This rise in food prices triggered the recent outbreak of violence in Haiti and in Bangladesh the cost of a kilo of rice went from $.31 to $.56 in less than 3 months. Most of these families living in poverty earn less than $2 per day and most of them are skipping meals because of the increase in costs.families affected by this crisis. I will write a weekly guide for each week with stories from these countries and their specific needs so we can end that weekly meal praying for those in that specific country."
Brian goes on to share how his family is going to make a difference..."As a family we have committed to do something small that can make a big difference in the lives of families very much like us around the world. Here is our plan:
1) Take 10% of our food budget each week and give that money directly to the Compassion Food Crisis Fund. We have $300 budgeted for each week on all food/restaurant/vegetable co-op related items and we will give $30 each week to help these families.
2) Spend one meal a week eating rice and learning about the different countries and families affected by this crisis. I will write a weekly guide for each week with stories from these countries and their specific needs so we can end that weekly meal praying for those in that specific country."
This is not money that we are diverting from our tithe. We feel led to take this money directly from money that we would normally spend on food.
Spread this idea and let’s join together to send thousands of dollars this summer to those in the most desperate of situations
Join us in spending this summer sacrificing some of our food so that others can feed their families. Email me at bseay@us.ci.org to sign up for the weekly email/prayer guide
